Book Shorts Moving Stories Film Festival coming to WordFest 2008
(CALGARY - June 26, 2008) WordFest: Banff-Calgary International Writers Festival is very excited to announce that the Book Shorts Moving Stories Film Festival will be coming to this year's Festival.
Moving Stories grew out of Book Shorts and is a program of short films celebrating books and the written word on film. Films for the Festival are currently being curated. One such film that WordFest is excited about is A Life Passion the short film biography of James McCreath, a man who turned the intensity of his real-life story into the epic novel Renaldo.
WordFest and Honens present Hazel Hutchins' Tess at WordFest 2008!
(June 26, 2008) Hazel Hutchins will narrate her classic children's book Tess (Annick Press) to original music composed by Allan Rae and performed by pianist Hinrich Alpers, Laureate of the 2006 Honens International Piano Competition.
In 2005 Honens commissioned Canadian composer Allan Rae to set Tess to music for the Alberta Centennial. We are delighted that the author will perform the story together with the music at WordFest 2008. We hope this is the start of many future collaborations between Honens and WordFest.
This event is part of the First Calgary Savings Book Rapport educational programme of WordFest, an innovative educational initiative, which fosters creativity and interest in the literary arts in young people.
